Bonnie Raitt - Love Me Like a Man (live)
Love that slide guitar,
Whatever may catch my eye, and whatever has caught my ear. New Orleans music, while we still exist in the glory days of YouTube, will be served. Humor, Irony, Politics and More.
Cool official video, historical re-enactment of Rosa Parks, and video of the Nevilles, looking like they're on Valence Street. Less than true, but the Nevilles on that same bus! Provides their unique perspective.
The trick was always to integrate Aaron's sweet voice into the funkier leanings of the Nevilles, and I always thought that Yellow Moon was the best way that they've done it, before or since. The song, the album, it hit the mark. My favorite of the Neville Brothers albums.
From the "latest album" performing their newest tune, Burning Down the House, in a psychodelic Letterman version. Does Byrne sound off key? Oh wait, he's on key, the rest of the band isn't? Sounds like the bands at 33 rpm, and he's at about 36?
A very thoughtful Zappa, Live in Sweden, extolling the dream and virtues of being a dental floss tycoon. It's quite a process, and getting it just right, well, it isn't easy. Obviously, as not many have tried it.
From the sublime to the surreal? I saw Jonathan "perform" this song at Tip's that same night. A classic.
Well, not so much what he says, but how Jonathon Richman thinks and says it. It reminded me of when I interviewed Jonathan at WTUL in probably 1980 or 81 and wrapping up the interview, I 'asked' everyone to come down to Tipitina's that night to see Jonathan, and he interrupted me and said, nasally of course, "I don't want EVERYONE to come..... just those who want to see the show....." And he was so right!
